Munnar Hill Station – Kerala 

Munnar Hills is a gorgeous Hill Station defining its own charm and beauty. It is located a height of 5000 to 8000 ft above sea level. Munnar Hills is where the confluence of three mountain streams – Mudrapuzha, Nallathani, and Kundala takes place. The name Munnar carries the meaning ‘three rivers’.  Munnar was the most favored summer escape for the British settlers of that reason.

The peaceful atmosphere gets thumbs up and the various combination of tourist destination is spellbinding. The tours can be categorized as the lakes and dams, wildlife sanctuaries with rare species of animals, and widespread tea and spice plantations.

The weather in Munnar is soothing. Summer days are medium and winter days are a bit cooler. Not to forget the heavy monsoon rainfall during the period of June to August.

Visiting Places in Munnar


It is known as the highest peak in South India. It is a humongous peak which can be spotted from Munnar. This peak is a popular place for trekking and climbing. The flora and fauna count is outstanding in Anamudi.


It is perched at an elevation of 1,700 m above sea level. The distance from Munnar is around 12 kilometers. It is an ideal destination for a picnic and leisure activities. The lake and dam also offer boating joyrides to people. The attractive venue is blessed with splendid natural aura and animals. Not to forget the renowned Indo-Swiss Live Stock project, this is soaring in great success. The tea plantations around this region are a relief to the eye.

Eravikulam National Park

This National Park is a beautiful place where nature has found its own meaning. The widespread grasslands and sholas, sum up to an area of around 97 sq km inside the Rajamalai Hills.  Eravikulam National Park is known as the home for the endangered mountain goat of Southern India.

Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary

The Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary is at a distance of 50 km from Munnar and not far from Marayoor. The sanctuary is based on strategic position and views of the Western Ghats can be enjoyed from here. The animals found in the sanctuary are elephants, leopards, and black bears.


It is a well-known hill station nearby Munnar famous for its tranquil natural essence. The extensive meadows are a highlight here. It is also rich in flora and fauna count.  The popular Sita Devi Lake receives a large number of picnic crowds. The water of this lake is said to have curative features. Trout fishing can also be done in the lake.


This place is well-reputed for its wonderful waterfalls. The distance to Munnar from Nyayamakad is about 10 km. The waterfalls flow water from around 1600 m above. The pleasing area is perfect for trekking and picnic activities.

Best Time to Visit

The perfect time to plan a vacation to Munnar is between the time of October and March. Visitors are advised of the season of Monsoon while coming to Munnar.
