About Chopta

Chopta is a peaceful and small hill resort destination located at, Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. It is placed in an elevation of 2680 meters above the sea level. This charming destination is enriched with evergreen forests of Pine, Deodar, Rhododendron, etc. and huge alpine meadows (Bugyals). Chopta is well known amongst tourists for birds watching and it’s beautiful trekking routs – Tungnath Chandrashila Trek and Deoriyatal lake trek.

Famous visiting places at Chopta are – Deoriyatal lake, Tungnath Temple, Chandrashila peak, Rohini Bugyal, Makku Math, Ukhimath, Musk Deer Sanctuary, etc. Best timings to visit Chopta – September to Jun is the idle time to visit. In the month of January and February due to heavy snowfall roads may block, so can avoid visiting during that time.

Our tour itinerary “Chopta Tungnath Chandrashila trek” covers all the transportations from Haridwar and Rishikesh to reach Chopta, accommodation, meal arrangements, and guided trekking to Tungnath, Chandrashila, and Deoriyatal lake.

Tour Itinerary

Day 01: Rishikesh to Chopta (210 Kms – 7 hours)

Pick up from Haridwar/Rishikesh and drive directly to Chopta hill station. Travelling Chopta rout is along with the holy river Ganga, Alaknanda, and the Mandakini rivers. Explore the picturesque view of the famous confluence cities “Deoprayag” and “Karnprayag”.
Enrooted lunch and evening reach the camping site of Chopta. Check-in and have evening high-tea with some snacks. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the location and feel the cold climate of there.
Evening time bonfire attracts you to sit around it to feel warm and continue your gossips. Briefing you about your next day trekking “Doriyatal Lake”.
Dinner and overnight stay in camps at Chopta.

Day 02: Chopta to Sari Village to Deoriatal (12Kms drive and 6 km Trek)

Morning post breakfast drive to Sari village, the base station of “Deoriyatal Lake Trek”. Its 3kms uphill trek from Sari Village takes around 2 hours.
After one side 3Kms trek you reach the top of the hill and you might be astonished by the beautiful lake “Deoriyatal lake”. Its located in an elevation of 2438 meters above sea level.
Deoria Tal lake is surrounded by green forest and covered by the “Choukhaba Peaks of Himalayas”. Take pictures of the beautiful location and spend your time in that precious place. Have your packaged lunch there.
Evening return treks down to Saari Village and drives back to Chopta.
Celebrate Bonfire and snacks followed by dinner. Overnight camping at Chopta.

Day 03: Chopta to Tungnath, Chandrashila and Back to Chopta (10 Kms, 4hours)

The morning after breakfast drive to the starting point of Tungnath – Chandrashila trek. It’s total 5 Kms trek one side.
Trek up to Tungnath temple located at an elevation of 3680 meters height. You can do pooja and darshan at this highest Shiva Temple in the world. Tungnath temple also considers as “Tritiya Kedar” amongst the “Panch Kedar“. Trek continues towards “Chandrashila Peak” 4180 meters height.
Amazing 360-degree view of Himalayas you can watch from the Chardrashila summit. Himalayan peaks you can watch – Nandadevi, Chaukhamba, Trishul, Kedar Peak, and Bandarpuch.
Have packed lunch enrooted. Return back to camp. Evening enjoys a bonfire with snacks followed by dinner.
Overnight camp stays at Chopta.

Day 04: Morning nature trail and return back to Rishikesh

Early morning wakeup call at the camp. You can go for a nature walk and birds watching at the nearby birding trails.
Breakfast at the camp and ready to return back from the camp.
Check out from the camp and drive back to Rishikesh.
Evening return back to Rishikesh drop at Rishikesh / Haridwar city.

3 Night’s luxury camp stay at Chopta

Activities Inclusive

Accommodation at Chopta :

During Chopta Tungnath and Chandrashila Trek we do 3 Night’s accommodation at Chopta.
Accommodation will be inside luxury tents, having a spacious living area, double inside the tent, carpeted floor, and attached washrooms.
The electricity facility will provide solar lamps.
Hot water serves in the bucket system at the camp.

Transport & Other Services

Transportation from Rishikesh fixed point to Rishikesh by Zylo/Tata Sumo/Mahindra Max.
