Pilgrimage Importance
Rishikesh is a serene and quiet station situated in the Dehradun district of Uttarakhand. Rishikesh has located around 25 km from another holy place Haridwar. The Himalayan destination is bliss in itself. There are no plastic bags, non-vegetarians, or alcohol users to be admitted legally.

Places to Visit in Rishikesh
Triveni Ghat
This is one of the sacred ghats, where pilgrims come to take a dip in the water. Thousands of people arrive here in order to do so. It is a great affair to sit and relax on the banks or enjoy the ‘Maha Arti’ that takes place here.
Lakshman Jhula
The Jhula Bridge has a legend behind its existence. It is believed that ‘Lakshman’ of ‘Ramayana’ crossed river ‘Ganga’ on jute ropes. Later iron suspension bridge was built in1939. This is the most popular destination in Rishikesh.
Gita Bhavan
It was lived by Guru’ Shri Ram Sukh Das Ji’, a great philanthropist. The Hindu Brahmin Community places great respect for him. It is a tradition to accumulate in his ashram twice a year to read ‘Ramayana’ together.
Swarg Ashram
‘Swarg Ashram’ means ‘Heavenly Abode’. The Ashram finds itself in the intriguing settings of the Himalayas on the bank of river ‘Ganga’ between Rishikesh and Lakshman Jhula. This place hosts the ancient inheritance of ‘Yogis’ and ‘Rishis’ and their peaceful teachings and knowledge. The stream of ashrams and temples make this place unique and stimulating in its own terms.
Parmarth Niketan
This ashram is well reputed for letting kids acquire a pure understanding of Veda’s education. The evening Pooja and Aarti is the highlight here.
How to Reach
By Air
The only nearby airport is Jolly Grant which is 13 km away from Rishikesh. This airport is regularly connected by flights from Delhi.
By Train
Rishikesh has a branch line which is connected to Haridwar. It is suggested to reach Haridwar by train and opt for hired cabs or auto-rickshaws to reach Rishikesh.
By Road
Rishikesh is well connected by roads from nearby important places. It takes around 6-7 hours to reach Rishikesh from Delhi.
