Start / End Point: Sankri Village

Duration: 6 Days

Difficulty Level: Easy-Moderate

Altitude : 12,500 feet

Best time to Visit: November to April

Location: Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand.

Railway Station: Dehradun Railhead is the nearest Railway Station.

Airport: Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is the nearest airport.

ByRoad: Dehradun is well connected by motorable roads. You can take any bus or taxi.

Day 1 – Dehradun – Sankri 

Sankri Village

Distance – 200 km. 

Time – 7 – 8 hours.

Altitude – 1976 meters.

  • Start your journey from Dehradun to Sankri.
  • On the way, explore the beauty of nature surrounded by blue pine forest and Yamuna and Tone River.
  • After the long scenic drive, reach Sankri and check – into the pre-booked campsite.
  • Enjoy a mouth-watering meal at the camp and overnight stay here.

Day 2 – Sankri – Juda Ka Talab

Juda Ka Talab

Distance – 4 km. 

Time – 3 – 4 hours.

Altitude – 2786 meters.

  • After Breakfast, you will start trekking from saur village to Juda ka Talab.
  • While doing this trek, you will have an opportunity to admire the beauty of many small towns and suspension bridges.
  • Reached at Juda Ka Talab check – in your camp.
  • Enjoy your lip-smashing food and overnight stay here.

Day 3 – Juda Ka Talab to Base Camp

Distance – 4 km. 

Time – 3 – 4 hours.

Altitude – 3430 meters.

  • After Breakfast, head out to Kedarkantha Base Camp.
  • You lost yourself in the magnificent view of snow-capped Himalayan peaks, including Swargrohini, Bandarpoonch, Kalanag, and England.
  • After reaching Base Camp, take your camps and enjoy a wonderful dinner.
  • Overnight stay at KedarKantha Base Camp.

Day 4 – Base Camp to Kedarkantha Summit

Distance – 6 km. 

Time – 6 – 7 hours.

Altitude – 3800 meters.

  • After Breakfast, start your trek early in the morning, around 2 a. m. It will take about 7 to 8 hours to reach the summit.
  • Enjoy the imposing view of higher Himalayan ranges, including – Yamunotri, Gangotri, and Kinner Kailash.
  • Spending some time at the summit and then heading back to Base camp.
  • End your day with the yummiest dinner at camp and an overnight stay here.

Day 5 – Base Camp to Sankri

Distance – 6 km. 

Time – 4 – 5 hours.

Altitude – 1950 meters.

  • Enjoy your delicious Breakfast at Base Camp.
  • Descend back to Sankri Village.
  • Have your mouth-watering meals and overnight stay here.

Day 6 – Sankri to Dehradun

Get back to your destination with a mesmerizing trip. 

Tips for Kedarkantha Trek

  1. Do not try to carry more than 10 -12 kg in your backpack.
  2. Don’t wastewater.
  3. Avoid trekking during the monsoon.
  4. Avoid using plastic bags and support eco-tourism.
  5. Give your valid ID proof at the time of check-in.
  6. Don’t expect any luxury during the camping. It is elementary.
  7. Carry on your battery back – up device for your phone and laptop.
  8. Carry dry snacks/food from home because food is available only in fixed places. 
  9. Children, less than seven years are not recommended for the Kedarkantha trek.
